a soft, slightly unhinged blog about self-discovery, emotion, and existential flair

Why this speaks to me this week:
Recently, I’ve been reading a book where self-control is elusive and the fallout is tremendous. It’s been reminding me how much the way we respond in difficult moments can change everything—sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once.

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to spiral when something doesn’t go as planned. How quickly disappointment turns into self-criticism. How one setback can make me question my judgment, my progress, or whether I’m doing enough at all.

So, I am choosing to understand how strength isn’t about never slipping or always choosing perfectly. It can be about noticing when I’ve drifted and choosing to come back. Pausing before reacting. Repairing when needed. Letting a misstep be a moment—not a verdict.

I have the strength to overcome setbacks because I don’t abandon myself when things get hard. I stay. And that, in itself, feels like growth.
I have the strength to
overcome setbacks.
